South of busy Santa Cruz lies the secluded village of La Selva Beach, a laid-back hamlet of gorgeous coastline where coastal farms stretch out to meet ocean bluffs. A semi-rural area, it gives one a feeling of solitude yet is just 10 minutes from the shops and restaurants of Aptos and the towering redwoods of Forest of Nicene Marks State Park.

“Pacific Vista” sits in a small private neighborhood called Sand Dollar Beach. It is a two block walk down to the sand, nestled between Manresa State Beach and the Uplands campground. The beach (or “10 Mile Beach” to locals), is a clean, pristine, expansive, almost continuous sandy crescent that stretches from Moss Landing to Capitola. Spread out, hang out, picnic, let the kids roam, beachcomb, fish, surf, and take long walks on a deserted coastline with your only companions being seagulls and sandpipers. Then, enjoy a sundowner or snag a fire ring. Surfers frequent the waves, lifeguards patrol in summer, and the soft gently sloping beach is perfect for strolling.

Available to rent for the first time in over 50 years, the house was designed in 1970 by a Stanford engineer as a family getaway. Four generations of the original family have benefitted from his gift. There are breathtaking ocean views from the decks, kitchen/dining area, den and main suites, as well as dramatic vaulted and beamed ceilings that span the upper level. Much of the furniture is original mid-century modern and modern art is hung on the walls. Large windows and sliders bathe the upper level in light. The large deck in the back, added by the designer’s son in the 1990s, has a view over a lovely Sand Dollar Beach common garden toward the ocean, and is a great place to relax with family and friends.
